Whitsun 2025

Bampton Traditional Morris Dancers look forward to seeing Bampton folk old and new out following the dancing and getting together to enjoy what is always a great spectacle. With all the Bampton Morris sides dancing in the streets, pubs and gardens and with a host of visiting sides joining in the early evening it’s sure to be, once again, an amazing weekend.


Food and Drink

The Morris Clown

Not entirely sure of opening hours, but will be open for all the festivities. If the front door is open, the pub is open!

The Co-op

Opening normally 07:00 – 22:00, bank holiday Monday may be different, check at store.

The Talbot Hotel

Opening hours, not sure but will be open for all the festivities.

The Talbot Whitsun BBQ will be on as usual this year:

Saturday: 16:00 – 20:00

Monday: 10:00 – 20:00

The Market Tavern

The new gastropub! Fully up and running with two ales (Hook Norton), really nice craft IPA, and plenty more besides. Full restaurant menu, bar snacks, breakfast etc.

The pub will be open normal hours but with food times amended as follows:

Restaurant:

Saturday Lunch: 12-14:30, Dinner: 18:00-20:30 (Normal menu, Booking recommended)

Sunday Roast: 12:00-19:00

Monday Breakfast: from 09:00, Roast: 12:00-18:00 (Limited breakfast menu, booking recommended)

Lynwood

Opening normally 08:00 – 16:00, bank holiday Monday may be different, check at store.

Coffee shop, cakes, sandwiches and other light bites.

Patrick Strainge Butcher

Award winning butcher, an absolute must for campers catering!! Hot and cold baguettes, pies, sausage rolls, pasties etc as well as full butchery, fromagerie, and deli!

Saturday: 07:00 – 16:00

Sunday: closed

Monday: 11:00 – 14:00 Hot pork rolls outside shop (shop closed)

The Horseshoe

Opening hours:
Friday: 15:00 – late

Tuesday: 11:30 – 20:00

Saturday, Sunday and Monday: Sarah’s Brunch Box will be in the carpark again this year serving awesome hot rolls, baguettes, burgers etc.

20:00 – Bampton Trad-ish Music Session #6 in The Horseshoe.

Sunday 25th

12:30 – Morris Practise at the Horseshoe

May Flower Garlands

Judging of Bampton’s other ancient Whitsun tradition, the May Flower Garlands, will take place at time TBC in the Market Square by the Village Hall. For budding Garland builders, get in touch with Emily Smith via the Facebook event here: TBC
